Diary of the Young and Married

Nothing like acing classes to start off your mini summer (before summer school). After visiting with my sister today I GOT A GYM MEMBERSHIP! This marks the first ever gym membership I’ve had on my own. I’m so excited, plus it’s at Anytime Fitness, which is a 24-hour gym! Thank goodness. I was so excited that my husband gave me the go ahead with money being as tight as it was. I never need his permission but I like being on the same page. He thinks I’m crazy when I ask for things instead of just doing them. It’s just a thing, okay? Haha.

“Babe, of course you can get a membership. It’s not too much and you need to do more for you. I’m always spending money on my toys,” he says.

Luckily I have the sweetest husband, right?

And ^ this is my new key to the gym! Bam.

Anyways, not that I’m done jumping up and down. I cleaned up (due to my sweaty, intense workout) and headed to see my man on his lunch break! I feel so good today, so energized and happy.

I love eating lunch with this guy at his work, it’s always an eventful experience. After eating we walked around because he says I should buy more sun-dresses because apparently “I look so pretty in them”. So as we were walking around, a co-worker of his found one of those alarm systems that wrap around expensive electronics going off, hidden under a bunch of socks. So my justice-loving-ego-bursting-paranoid husband starts his lookout and, needless to say, it was interesting. They did catch the guys right after I left.

And then I come home to two pieces of mail, one is an invitation to a friends wedding! But the other is something we always get that I hate.

A letter from the city saying we need to do our lawn. Hello, let me just tell you how little time I have to do that. Every single time I’m off work it’s pouring rain. And so how are we supposed to be on top of our lawn. Hopefully this will give my husband some incentive to wake up early this weekend while I’m working. Fingers crossed because I do not want to leave it for them to do and then get charged later. Does anyone just want to do my lawn for free?! That would be much appreciated.

Also, if you’re still reading my pointless post, thank you all so much for your kind words after posting my before and after. You guys are so supportive and give me the motivation to continue every day!

Accountability Blog

my guts finally came through and I created one. I need something to motivate me to stay fit and healthy. I’m not looking for a six pack or killer biceps for now…I just want to be healthy and to not gain back the weight I worked so hard to lose.

Lifestyle

I’m happy and today, working out made me feel awake again. I took my own advice and not only did I get my fat butt off the couch but I did some research that I’ve been meaning to do. It’s easy to quit, a lot easier than it is to start and this time around I want to bring my husband along with me on the continuation of my journey to a healthier lifestyle. I let myself slack off after losing that 50 lbs. I let myself believe that I didn’t have to keep trying but I reminded myself today that it isn’t over, I still have so much further to go but I’m not disappointed in myself because when I open the fridge or the pantry, I can see that we have made some major changes.  Not only do we eat better than we used to but we eat a lot less, our food lasts longer and we’re both sleeping better at night because of it. It’s the getting up and working out that is most difficult.

Today I decided to make working out more fun by (1) turning my guest room into my own, personal workout area (2) Designing a meal plan with cute pictures and bring colors to hang up in the kitchen (3) Writing out workouts with colors and make a binder for future references and (4) doing more research.

I’m optimistic about my future because I know that I am capable of making the necessary changes. Above all else, my husband always has and always will support me and that is what makes everything so simple. If he’s here, I can do anything. Not only do I want to do all this for myself, I want to do it for him and for our future family. One day I’ll look back and be so grateful that I started and succeeded. I’ve come this far, I can do so much more. I am too strong to quit or to even feel sorry for myself. I’m proud of where I’m going and the healthy choices I’ve made.

BACK TO BUSINESS, FOLKS.

30-Day Running Challenge

10. Where do you prefer to run, treadmill, street, track, trail? And why do you prefer running there?

When it’s cool outside I prefer to run either on a guided trail or on a road with a scenic route. I say “when it’s cool” because my body is extremely sensitive to the heat and I blackout/pass out easily when I get too overheated. But I absolutely love to do it outside with fresh air and gorgeous scenery. Also there are a lot of great things you come across when you’re running outdoors. It’s better for me.

When it’s extremely hot, I run indoors, usually on the track at the University Rec Center. I don’t like running in a confined area but having that air on me, helps to keep me going!

30-Day Running Challenge

9. What’s the strangest/most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you on a run?

OH MY GOODNESS, so easy!

I ran by a house with one of those windows that stick out closer to the sidewalk, you know like it’s further out than the rest of the house. Even with my headphones and music on, I heard something and so I looked around and saw tons of kids playing outside but it wasn’t that kind of noise. So…I took my headphones off and I heard sex, the loudest sex, blow the roof off your house kind of sex! It was awful, right there in that window, oh and get ready for this…THE WINDOW WAS WIDE OPEN! That’s right with the curtains blowing in and out and everything. I kept thinking about how there are children playing outside that I know can hear this and then their dog starts frantically barking at me and I realize I’ve been frozen outside their house for a good 30 seconds just standing trying to grasp the situation. Of course. I felt so awkward, I mean who does that anyway?! We’re glad you’re having a good time and all but holy betsy could you please at least shut the window?!

Remember, I made this video about it? haha, good times.

30-Day Running Challenge

8. Show us a picture of your running shoes. What are they and why do you like them?

These are my Nike Pagasus28’s and I love them! They’re so far the first shoes I’ve been able to find that don’t kill my feet on my runs and they have great ventilation.

30-Day Running Challenge

6. To you, what’s the hardest thing about running?

I think that I would have to say it’s the “psyching yourself out” bit. I mean, I used to be awful at running, couldn’t even make it through my mile runs at school. That’s pretty bad. I always thought to much about not being able to breathe, my side hurting, the heat that I didn’t focus on how to overcome it. I made myself panic. And even now I will have to stop myself from thinking “I can’t finish all this”. I find myself talking my own way through the whole last part.

“It’s not as far as it seems.”

“You’ve got this.”

“Stop, don’t think about that side.”

“Stand up. Breathe deep, in your nose out your mouth.”

“Nice and slow, pace yourself.”

Besides that, for me, it would also be the heat because of my low tolerance and tendencies to pass out/black out when overheated. I have to really be careful and sometimes just opt out of running outdoors. It is discouraging so I have to find alternatives and remind myself that there are plenty of other ways around this, aka running at the gym on the track.

Listening to music has definitely helped with me getting stuck in my head. It’s all about finding your way around the obstacles.

30-Day Running Challenge

5. What’s your favorite distance to run or race and why?

Well, the furthers I’ve ever ran would be 5 miles and that is all new to me! It felt good and it was another milestone, therefore, I’d have to say that 5 miles is my favorite distance. It is for now anyway. It was definitely hard but it was worth it!

30-Day Running Challenge

Day 2. Why did you continue to run?

Because my body went from this

To this

But that isn’t the only reason. It was just my physical well-being that changed but my overall well being. Getting in shape made me happier, put me in better moods and made me confident like I used to be. Every goal accomplished is another victory and it makes me feel so energized! My sleep improved, my mind was more relaxed and there for I was able to take on more than what I was. My stress levels decreased and I didn’t feel tired all of the time.

When I started to gain weight I lost a big part of who I was. I used to be so active and enthusiastic, I was confident and hardly ever negative. I became weak, physically and emotionally. I knew that had to change. Running gave me an outlet. It has been a healthy way for me to let off steam and bring the old me back for the people who deserve to have that, my Husband especially.

With that being said, what sort of super woman runs in 95 degree weather with absolutely no breeze?! Tonight killed me and I am regretting the decision to eat pizza right before that night run. I could have done better, I have done better but tonight was killer. Water, please bring me back to life!

A Runner’s Story

I DID IT!

I ran 5 miles tonight…and in this heat none the less. I am so proud of myself and Husband is proud of me also, which is a feeling I love. This is the longest I’ve ever ran. My friend and I ran and it was out in the country so it was so beautiful.

If I keep doing things this way, I’ll actually be confident enough to call myself a runner!

Finding happiness through Success!

Husband is so proud of me and this is the best part!

I went in to do a microfit assessment to compare my results from last years. I didn’t plan it this way but turns out this is even the same month I did last year’s assessment. I lost two more lbs and was excited to hear that right off the bat, but the best part is that I am half the body fat percentage that I was this time last year! I’m in a healthy zone and more importantly, I feel incredible!

I’ll be posting a video on my Youtube channel soon and sharing it here!

File today under one of the best days of my life.

About

Avatar My decision to marry young has defined me, it has tested me and it has saved me. We have and are still beating the odds and the statistics that we have been labeled by. We love deeply and every day that love grows deeper. We want children in the future and while this may be more difficult than we planned, we'll be enjoying our time together until we are ready for that next step. I'm a lover of God and a believer in everything He has created.

This is all me unfiltered.
